Conscious Choices in Uncertain Times…

September 16, 2021

Patricia Campanile Senior Associate Edgewalkers International

Decision Making has never been one of my strong points. Even when I was younger I had difficulty deciding what I wanted. Actually, I wanted too much and the thought of choosing ONE thing meant I had to close off my other options. Life is a smorgasburg for me. I often get the sample platter when I eat Indian food so I can try everything. I realize that some of what fuels this indecision and resistance to making one choice is that I have a serious case of FOMA (Fear of Missing Out). I have learned the hard way that choosing from fear, from missing out, or in reaction to what I did not want, resulted in not always making clear and conscious choices that were best for me. The more I focused on what I did not want or the fear of loss, I kept attracting what I did not want and loss and disappointment. I did not have the commitment and focus to clearly connect with my inner desire. I had not identified what I truly wanted and needed in order to make the best decision for my life and create the results that supported my life, work and relationships.

One aspect of my spiritual journey as an Edgewalker has been discovering HOW to make conscious choices. Over time I have strengthened my intuition by trusting my gut instincts and being quiet while feeling and listening to my body. At times I am conflicted when my heart wants one thing and my mind says another. When this happens and I feel stuck or paralyzed and don’t know what to do, I co-create with the Universe and ask for CEO signs (Clear, Easy, Obvious). I am learning non-attachment and accepting that just because I have a plan, LIFE often has another path for me that is far better than I could have ever imagined.

Staying awake, curious, conscious and available to shift is required to thrive and grow. It is also necessary to recognize and allow any feelings of loss, grief, disappointment, regret, and sadness we may experience when things don’t go according to plan. Loving what is, knowing that everything that happens is happening FOR us, NOT to us, enables us to stay open to Plan B, C or whatever life presents us. Timing is everything and knowing when to choose is key in discovering and following our right path. When we make conscious choices in spite of uncertainty and the unknown, a fertile ground is laid for new ideas, opportunities, creative solutions, innovation and new beginnings. We can choose to stand in our mastery and sovereignty, knowing that we are in authentic alignment with our Highest Truth. When we do this LIFE magically organizes itself to support our intentions, dreams and desires.

Now more than ever, with so much uncertainty and unknown, plans can change in a moment. It takes courage and wisdom to adapt and be flexible. These qualities and skills are getting a lot of practice with all changes in the world. What we resist persists has new meaning. We are NOT in control is often a difficult realization that can also be a relief. If the door is not opening is not our door. Individually and collectively we are being asked to stop, breathe, let go, and see what happens. Go with the flow and more WILL be revealed in perfect time!

The more often you choose to provide yourself with the essential combination of inner tools and outer skills to live in a balanced and thriving environment, the more you will have available to contribute to others.

Integrating the 10 Heart-Centered principles below will support you in deepening your connection to the truth that you DO matter. This blog provides an overview of the 10 principles that build on one another. They are designed to nurture the realization that you are worthy and deserving to live and work authentically from your heart (and mind) to fulfill your life’s purpose. The tools, techniques and support structure are provided to enable you to harness your power and take action. When you choose to step into a the spiral of new possibilities, a paradigm shift occurs. You can move forward with greater ease to create the life you desire as well as meaningful, fulfilling work in 2021 and beyond. These 10 Heart-Centered Principles cultivate the strength and energy needed to rise up, take “Evolutionary leaps of faith”, and make a difference in the world. If not us then who? If not now then when? Life is not a dress rehearsal. The time is now!

THE BALANCE/INTEGRATION PRINCIPLE

Being/Doing * Yin/Yang * Masculine/Feminine

The main concept and underlying foundation is integration and how to balance all aspects of yourself and your life. These include balancing masculine (doing) and feminine (being) energies, and integrating professional, personal and spiritual growth. This (w)holistic Heart-Centered approach is an important and integral principle in creating the life and work you desire.

THE VALUES/INTEGRITY PRINCIPLE

Beliefs * Commitment * Honesty * Truth

Through discovering and identifying your values based on your own belief system, honesty and truth, you can live a life of integrity. Your personal and professional ethics are at the heart of the core principles for living the life you desire and the values-based foundation to design and contribute your purpose to your community and the world.

THE AUTHENTICITY/UNIQUENESS PRINCIPLE

Individuality * Distinctiveness * Genuineness

Identifying and expressing your uniqueness, gifts, talents and passions makes a difference because there is only one of you in all of time. There is no competition. By celebrating and embracing this truth you can allow your brilliance to shine. Committing to living from your authentic self is at the (heart) center of creating and living the life and work you desire with greater ease and flow.

THE INSPIRATION PRINCIPLE

Heart’s Desire * Passion * Creativity * Spirit

Knowing what inspires you from within and connecting to your passion and spirit, resulting in external motivation. By accessing your creativity and designing your own unique heart-centered mission, you can take inspired action to create the life you desire while modeling and inspiring others to do the same.

THE MISSION/GREATER PURPOSE PRINCIPLE

Contribution * Service * Cooperation * Collaboration

Clarifying your personal and professional mission and greater purpose stems from integration and balance, incorporating your values, living authentically and being inspired. These provide the foundation and core anchor to build on as you navigate living the life you desire and contributing your gifts and talents. Establishing relationships based on collaboration and cooperation lead to supportive, diverse communities based on a win-win for all.

THE INTUITION PRINCIPLE

Guidance * Inner Knowing * Surrender * Trust * Faith

Understanding how to access, trust and follow your intuition in making choices aligns you with who you truly are. Your intuitive, inner knowing is an invaluable divine gift that is essential in guiding and supporting you to have faith, surrender, and evolve into your unique mission and purpose. You can create and live a life that makes your heart and soul sing.

THE COMPASSION PRINCIPLE

Empathy * Sympathy * Love

Connecting with and cultivating your compassionate heart is a key principle in serving, honoring and respecting others as well as yourself. Empathy involves walking in another’s shoes and provides the understanding to build bridges and embrace diversity. Living and giving with compassion is the business of love.

THE TRANSFORMATION PRINCIPLE

Transition * Change * Growth

Transforming and becoming who you truly are is a result of applying and integrating these principles in your life. Opening your heart and mind, letting go, living in the void of the unknown, and allowing the new beginnings to emerge involves trust and patience. Embracing and understanding the necessary stages of change and transition are key steps in growing into the individual you are meant to be.

THE MASTERY PRINCIPLE

Self-Leadership * Self-Mastery

Mastering yourself involves integrating and mastering these principles in your life professionally, personally and spiritually. The principles of self-mastery such as integrity, vision and awareness are a key components in self-leadership. Leading yourself with power and clear intention will support you in leading and inspiring others to greatness.

THE WARRIOR PRINCIPLE

Courage * Power * Action

Applying these heart-centered principles with your courage and commitment, focuses you in the direction towards the life you desire. By being your authentic self and utilizing the warrior principle, you can take powerful action with confidence and live your life mission and purpose with greater meaning, impact and influence.

Your Unique Purpose

April 29, 2021

Edgewalker Senior Associate Patricia Campanile

“You are here to enable the Divine Purpose of the Universe to Unfold. That is how important you are!” Eckart Tolle.

Eckart Tolle’s quote is one of my favorite. There is only one of you in all of time. You matter! When you can really take that in, absorb the truth of who you are, a Divine individualized expression of the Universe, God, Higher Intelligence (or who or what you wish to call it), your life will shift. You start to become more soul identified and less ego defined. Awakening to this realization, the awareness and connection to this truth, is essential on many levels. For one, it supports you in finding, cultivating and contributing your unique purpose to your life, community, humanity and the planet.

Your unique purpose is an inside job FIRST that follows with your outer expression. Whether it is manifested in your work, professional or personal passion, relationships or creative endeavors, you and only you can bring your unique talents, personality, gifts, ideas, ways of being and doing to the world that no one else can. This is not about being special, it is about each of us acknowledging our Divine birthright to exist and embrace our worth. Every one of us can choose to accept and allow our own magnificence and live authentically from our heart, mind and soul. In turn we are more able and available to give the same to others in spite of our differences. This conscious choice alone will help humanity shift, transform and evolve.

Edgewalkers understand the importance of discovering our unique purpose and exploring our calling, even though it may look different for each of us. Even if we are unclear, or are in the midst of a transition, we know that we can always choose to make a difference and connect with our purpose by focusing on the Edgewalker skills and qualities. Some of these include risk-taking, vision, passion, play, and connecting with what comes natural for us, what brings us joy. At times this path can feel scary and many individuals feel like they are walking the path alone, or are misunderstood. It takes courage and commitment to follow your calling and embrace your unique purpose. However it is a risk worth taking. When you are authentically aligned with your true self/Self you also attract those of like mind, soul, purpose and can support one another on the journey . You can recognize and celebrate one another’s magnificence.

My favorite quote from my childhood is from the poet E.E. Cummings: “To be no one but yourself, in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everyone else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting.” It is time to let go of the fight and allow the love. To stop searching and allow your purpose to come forth. By embracing your authenticity as well as the unique contribution of others, a safe space is created that allows your unique purpose to be revealed to you, like a beautiful diamond that has been buried. You are a facet on that diamond. Each one of us can be the one of a kind individual that we are meant to be. It is your time to shine brilliantly. The world needs you. YOU need YOU!

The Importance of Spiritual Practice in Navigating Uncertainty

April 1, 2021

Edgewalker Senior Associate Patricia Campanile

We are not in control. The uncertain times we have been living in have shown us that regardless of our good intentions to plan, organize, make resolutions and control our lives we have been asked to let go and create a plan B. Whether change has been forced upon us or we had to make difficult and necessary decisions to shift our plans, we were often left with feelings of disappointment, sadness, frustration and despair. Unanswered questions, what’s next, what now, and feeling as if we are sailing through the “fog” of the unknown can also be an opportunity to discover, recover and apply spiritual practices that can guide us into our new future and evolving world.

I love how Thomas Merton describes uncertainty: “You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith, and hope.” My inherent Edgewalker nature and those of my colleagues and friends who share the Edgewalker journey are supported by our orientation to look to the future and focus on opening to new possibilities. To quote the wisdom of Buddha: ” To know and not to do is really not to know.” NOW is the time to do, and be, what we know! This is when “the spiritual rubber meets the road.” These are the times to support ourselves and one another by integrating and applying our spiritual practices and rituals, and modeling and walking our talk with integrity and courage. When Edgewalkers access their spiritual connection they are more easily guided by their intuitive wisdom, trust their faith in the Universe and rely on their inner strength.

Spiritual practices and ritual can anchor and guide you to stay balanced, centered and focused as you move away from familiar shores as the new horizons unfold. For many these practices are no longer optional but necessary to assist you in staying the course and discovering what is next with curiosity and an open heart and mind. What are your navigational “tools” as you sail through uncertainty? Some examples of spiritual practices and rituals include prayer and meditation, yoga and breath work, walking a labyrinth, reading books on personal and spiritual development, journaling, creating an altar and sacred space, setting intentions on the new moon and letting go of the old and what no longer serves you on the full moon. Space clearing and feng shui as well as creating a vision board can help you attract what you want. Being in the beauty and peace of Nature can ground and expand you and provide perspective as you step away from everyday life. Experiencing the energy of a group, whether online (such as Edgewalker Cafes) or in person gatherings such as drumming circles, support groups, church services, and sacred dance create the interconnectedness and support that community provides, whether it be the Edgewalker community or one you resonate with.

As you explore and reflect on your journey thus far, remember that the choices you have made throughout your life have brought you to this exact moment. There are no accidents. What will you consciously choose now with the knowledge and discernment you have accumulated over your lifetime? Are there spiritual practices and rituals you can add to your daily life to assist you as you move forward? Utilizing what you have learned and chosen to embrace along your journey develops the strength, the “muscle” of awareness, trust, courage and self-acceptance. Clarity and certainty are available to us if we are fully present, breathe and appreciate each moment. This is the greatest spiritual practice of all!
